*Gaia’s face warmed gently with a smile.  She can hear the uproar from within the stadium.  It was a beautiful ceremony.  Her little children made such pretty noise, especially in such excitement.  Her clouds were alighted with bright colors and there was celebration in every land, so much joy and thrill.  So much connection and so much love, despite, or perhaps even because of, the competition.  She was happy enough to listen outside the stadium.  Let the young ones engage in revelry.*

“And what’re you to do? Kill me? Do go ahead I’ve got nothing left.” He stood his ground and raised his arms so his entire body was exposed to her as if she had a weapon to strike him dead; Only a Lord of Gallifrey could strip his regenerations anyway. “I have not insulted Asgard- I’ve fucked the Laufeyson enough to have respect for him.”

*She stares at him with something halfway between fury and pity.  A small sense in her warned that it was only pride angering her…and he was only a child, even in his own species; no grown Time Lord would act so rashly.  She bites her lip.  The ground begins to tremble under their feet, but she calms herself and grows still.  He’s just a boy.  The age is clear in her eyes as she sighs softly.*

Forgive me.  You are too young to judge with my strength.  I am five-and-a-half billion years old, I know better.

Five billion years? A slow smile creeped his expression until he leaned forward so their breaths mingled. “And to think someone as I can end you. Five billion years of life and I hold it at the tips of my fingers. All I need to do….is open the voids between the other universes.” He liked hurting people- it made his extremities tingle with a pleasure he nearly found in copulating. “I wonder how it feels to know that the last of the time lords has this much power and yet…you insist on calling me a child.”

Open the voids?  *Her expression falls into one of disbelief.*  Last of the Time Lords?  I know that man as the Doctor, the man of many faces.  My defender.  I thought you were simply lost in time…but you cannot be my Doctor.  *She shakes her head, dispelling the thought.*  Can pain be all that fulfilling that you speak so dearly of causing it?  You inspire no fear in me, only sadness.  Why should I fear one so lost?  I ought to offer you asylum, if you ever tire of this talk.

“They are lost you needn’t care, kitten.” Theta cleared his throat softly, and pushed his gaze elsewhere. He really didn’t need to talk about it. “I am of Asgardian descent.” He lied smoothly.

*Her eyes light up pleasantly, before turning into a face of horror.*  Not Asgard…no, that can’t be true.  Asgard cannot…I can’t believe that.  Not such a bright, joyful world.

“Pardon your tongue!?” He strides towards her with a fierce anger that he’d only felt when speaking of emotions. “Mother of all? You would know that not only is it a dark place, it was NO competition for Gallifrey- there has never been another kingdom that has been able to replace it and I pray for you if you think so! If you value your tongue in your mouth, you’d do best not to act as if I just slandered any name.”

*Gaia takes a step back, breath catching in her throat.*  I—what?  *She narrows her eyes, looking him up and down as the pieces connect.*  Gallifrey…you’re a son of Gallifrey.  *She takes a step forward, standing her ground as she takes deep breaths.*  I have no problem with any child standing up for his world, especially not one who has suffered such loss as a Time Lord.  Gallifrey was a shining, beautiful planet, and she raised strong, independent children.  You should count yourself proud to be one among them.  But if you dare to insult any world while you sojourn on my skin, I will not tolerate it.

“Child?” He didn’t fair too well being called a child, especially in his growing- and yet he wanted to wait this one out. He wanted to see the freight on her gaze grow. “I think we can both agree that I’m not a child. I am from a world lost. You needn’t ask which, you wouldn’t remember.”

*She smiles a little at his petulance.*  I shouldn’t believe that, dear one.  I can remember over five billion years.  And so I assure you, unless you’re hiding a dwarf star somewhere within your form, you are most definitely a child to me.

Come now, from what world are you?

Pleasure to meet you, I’m Natasha Romanoff.

Natalia!  I mean—yes, of course, you go by Natasha.  Pardon.  You’re a girl of so many names, like myself.

Yes, it’s Natasha not Natalia. -frowns- But how do you know that.

*She opens her mouth to speak, but pauses, thinking over her words.*  I know a lot, dear one.  Call me Gaia.
